2970rl TV MOD
Hi there folks. So I got this from a guy. I love this mod. Did you know that there is 18 inches of unused space behind your TV. I will try and post pics here. I'm kinda phone illiterate.
I took off the paneling behind the TV and then the framing and built a swing panel to rotate the TV screen and have a nice spot for some storage or a bar. The other guy put LED lights with switches. I used 9 inch carriage bolts for the hinges. Measurements should be in pics.
Above in the cabinet you have to put a 1x3 or so piece of pine or board.
The radio pops out with 4 screws.
I got a magnet catch so it stays closed and used a gate hook and latch to keep it from moving while traveling.
Any questions I would be glad to answer.

Great additional storage behind TV
Jodester,
What a great idea. We bought our 2970 in March 2019 and immediately asked the dealer what the heck was behind the TV. They did not know. But you can never have too much storage space. A couple of questions for you.
Q 1: If the TV was hinged on the right then you would not have to take out the radio/DVD player to put the bolt in, is that correct? Is there some reason why it was done this way?
Q 2: The TV mount in your unit looks really heavy duty. Can you tell me what brand/model it is?
Thanks.

Answer to question
Hinge was chosen to swing away from the island. The TV mount itself is the same TV mount that came with camper. I built a 2x4 frame with a piece of plywood.
