2019-20 RAM Cummins CP4 recall announced

    Details below:
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/comp...id=hplocalnews

Kind of feels like a lottery if only 240,000 out of 600,000 or so are being recalled.

    Some additional info here.

No idea. But it would seem that if they are replacing all that were produced between Oct 2018 and Nov 2020, that's a bunch. I can't see them investing that amount without hopefully putting in the modded CP3 that's now in the 2022s. Meanwhile, my truck is not on the initial list but I'm hoping it grows larger.

For those who have already experienced a failure under warranty, check out the following wording:
"FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected parts to repurchase suspect HPFPs and engines."Attachment 37752

What list are you referring to? What I read indicated all 2019-2020 with the CP4.

It gives the pump PNs and engine numbers in the FCA pdf I attached above. At least that is the second cut. There is another recall for same affecting 4-5K trucks. For example, my pump PN is 68563967AA and my engine number is P53041230BA neither of which appear on the at least initial recall above.

I am impressed with Ram. They are stepping up way more than Ford, which continues to deny the issue, and even GM, who was much more helpfull to customers having the issue, before finally dumping the CP4.
If Ram continues in this direction, I think a Ram will be my next truck.

This sort of support after the sale means a LOT to me.

Thanks for the quick reply. I know there's a lot of talk about the CP4 being a time bomb and piece of junk. Could it be that the failures that have been reported fell within certain dates or manufacturing runs and that's what the recall addresses?

That is probably a logistical thing. They can likely only get a certain number of pumps now,so they are replacing those most likely to fail first. I bet your truck will get added later on.

I do not think that is likely. Ram dumped it after only 2+ years for a reason

I think that is correct. They can only do so many at a time - Bosch (or whatever they are putting in) will have to manufacture a bunch of HPFPs. If you look at the PNs and numbers, they are the oldest of the bunch number-wise.
