Well I found that TSD is not very helpful out west and especially northwest. While you can use the card, it doesn’t give you hardly any savings in the west. Gas buddy seems to save you about 4-6 cents a gallon, so almost any fuel program works better and the limit on their card makes it seem useless. TSD seems ok in the middle of the country, with decent savings. I haven’t gone east with the TSD card yet so can’t speak with any authority there. I have gone in truck lanes with just my debit card a couple of times but that didn’t work out well… having to use the card twice to fill my 2 tanks kinda sucked. And I’m not replying to anyone specific so no quote.

There's definitely a range of savings (or not) depending on the truck stops. It may be that the truck stops that offer the best discounts aren't located in the West/Northwest area of the country?

I'm a bit confused by the line in your post about "the limit on their card makes it seem useless." There is no purchase limit with the TSD card; truck fleets use the TSD card as well (it's not just for RVers) and they typically fuel up with 300 to 400 gallons at a time. I've seen some outrageous dollar amounts when I fill up after a semi and they don't have to stop and start with their cards. Truck drivers would go on strike if they had to do that given the quantity of fuel, DEF and routine windshield washing they do when they stop to fuel up.

GasBuddy is the 1st alternate for me if a truck stop isn't in the region where I'm traveling. But I never fill up at any place other than a truck stop when I'm pulling the travel trailer.

    TSD Convenience

PS: you really get spoiled with those high flow nozzles.
I also enjoy the fact that the DEF is at the diesel pump so that I don't have to purchase DEF in a box. We've been on the TSD program for about a year and even though the savings may no longer be a benefit, the convenience is great.

Not trying to be picky but the limit I was referring to is Gas Buddy as I was discussing it. Their card has $75.00 limit on it. At $3.50-$4.00 a gallon that doesn’t go very far to fill 100+ gallon tank.

Yes TSD has a $950 limit on their cards I believe. At least I think mine does.

I do it all the time. I have also talked with trucker while fueling and asked them a similar question. The general response is, as long as I don't leave the truck at the pump while going in the store, or whatever, they don't care. Plus, with a smaller tank, I fill up much faster than they. (And, just yesterday, my discount figured out at $.53 per gallon.)

I've driven 30K miles over the last 6 months back and forth from/to Dallas across 16 states (see blue stars). Less than 10k with my 38' travel trailer. I almost always fill up in the truck lanes trailer or no trailer. Truckers don't care so long as you don't leave your truck parked blocking a pump while you go inside.

I use the TSD card most of the time. I've saved anywhere from 2-3 cents per gal to 60 cents a gal. Yesterday I fueled up without my trailer at a QT (not a TSD partner) in Joplin, MO. Diesel was 25 cents cheaper there than at another QT 10 miles down the road. And it was 3 cents less than the nearest TSD partner.

Overall, I've found diesel prices to be cray cray with very little consistency anywhere. With a trailer, I typically use TA, Petro, and Loves as they average out to be the lowest and are located nearest to the interstate or highways I am traveling on. Without a trailer, I also tend to fuel up in the same places, but will make a spot call if I see someone else at the same exit with a lower price.

I really like that all the charges are on the app on my phone and that I don't have to go inside for tickets/receipts, or pay another bill, or deal with any paper receipts at the pump. Get diesel, get back on the road.

I agree. The fuel comes out so fast I have a hard time pumping without it backing up and shutting off the pump. Caveat: Wear rubber gloves. I haven't found one truck stop pump yet between Michigan and Florida that didn't leak!!!

One other advantage to using the big truck stops, is that they have the freshest fuel. They are dispensing thousands of gallons per day so they are always getting a fresh tanker in, not so much with the corner gas station or the less busy fuel stops off the highway.

With the sensitivity of today's engines, I want the freshest fuel I can find.

    Same goes for the DEF.
