We recently had to have our Furrion Microwave/Convection oven replaced under warranty and the mobile service tech was told by GD when replacing the oven, to install an aluminum sheet behind it on the wall which he did. I did see the burn mark on the wall when he removed the non-working microwave. So apparently GD is aware of this and/or was told by Furrion to install the aluminum sheet.

I debated b/w aluminum vs steel. I did put a few washers b/w the two metal plates to give a bit of an air gap

I do not think this is necessarily solitude specific. It is my understanding that both reflection and solitude not sure about imagine use the same High Point or Furion units

Honestly not sure..but convection mode definitely generates heat

Very good idea for DIY fixes. Anyone who uses a kamado grill knows that an air gap is your friend. A metal plate, steel or AL will conduct heat to what it is mounted on if there is no air gap - still way to hot for the combustible surface in the cabinets. Washers are good, ceramic standoffs better, if there is room.
Been considering another brand of Micro/possible upgrade to a convection combo as the non-inverted micro is only good for heating water.

Ryan - we all appreciate the help that Emily provides but it seems this needs to be escalated to higher levels at GDRV as Marcy shared. The issue has apparently been discussed by some folks at GDRV given the "carefully crafted" response comment from Emily which in and of itself is interesting. I hope this response is not dictated by the sheer huge numbers of RVs affected and thus the cost to GDRV to address.

A "burning" wall, potential harmful gasses being released into the RV not to mention the question of impact to the laminated wall as Kim referenced certainly are valid concerns if not immediate and longer term serious issues.

When did GDRV start installing some protection on the wall (if they are doing so)......anyone know for sure ?

A dumb question but have you guys with burn marks checked to see if the outside vent was not locked closed? Or do you not have the outside vent?

In our model there is no outside vent. The microwave/conv oven vents directly back into the rv.

It’s funny how we have the cheapest Reflection ever built yet our microwave actually vents to outside. Seems like GD is just too lazy to cut a hole in the wall for every model.
