I find 2 AC units to be a very good thing.

I have tinnitus and other ear issues that make the noise from a fan running VERY irritating. I run the bedroom AC during the day and Living Area AC at night to keep the noise away from me.

I have a 2021 297RSTS with the second AC unit installed before purchase. In Central Texas during the summer, one AC would only get the inside temp down to 82 during the hottest part of the day in the state park running a 30amp feed. Yes, get the 2nd AC. Makes a huge difference.

It is always better to have something you don’t need than to need something you don’t have. Good you got the second air.

I would definitely opt for the 2nd AC added at the factory since it’ll be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than adding it after the fact. I’ve done the research and just to buy a 2nd AC is upwards of $900 then installation is another $1k depending on where you go. OR you could just have the factory install it for $800-900 and be done with it. We’re having our 297RSTS built right now and we got the 2nd AC.

Nothing is free, I am sure you are playing for it somewhere in the deal. LOL

Absolutely you want a 2nd A/C, I made the mistake of a 30amp trailer later wanting to add an A/C. As previous post, ALWAY have a second A/C

We used the rig several times with only the one A/C unit and I can tell you that there was a HUGE difference after adding the 2nd A/C. What also helped was adding an RC Airflow to the main A/C unit.
The 2nd A/C will also make your rig taller so make sure you get a good measurement.
I have not added Soft Starts yet so we cannot run both units on a 30 amp outlet.
There are several campsites we go to that only offer 30amp power so adding those gadgets is very appealing.

Hope some of this is helpful.

    Safe travels!
Hi there Codys, We have a 2019 29RS with only the one a/c. We have had triple digit temps and have slept in the 5er instead of the house due to the a/c. It did a good job of pulling the temps down into the high 60's at night for sleeping. have you been in any temps that the 2nd a/c would have been a must have? Our rig had the Airflow from the factory. saved me a few dollars.

Makes for an easy decision. Good luck with the new rig.

    I have a 2018 RSTS 297 with 2 15,000 btu ac's. Once outside temps go
above 90 degrees one AC starts to lose ground. I highly recommend the second AC. Stay cool.
