I know in the past when I worked for GM and GM dealers---if you came in and wanted a key cut....you had to show the vehicle registration and your ID before the dealer would cut the key for this reason. I'm guessing that's not happening now of the process has been compromised like everything else.

Hit and miss plus bad actors. Dealerships have the capability, How will they govern the use is not consistent.

You can buy RFID pouches or bags on amazon. Faraday bags will also protect from EMP Electomagnetic Pulses. But that is a whole new rabbit hole.

Great for drinks and socializing! All kidding aside, its a great deterent both visually and security wise. Almost as good as a wheel boot for immobilizing a vehicle.

A simple bolt cutter to cut through the steering wheel makes short work of The Club.

It take a really big bolt cutter to open that wide.

Most thieves in busy parking lots won’t carry them around. A hacksaw works too but attracts a lot of attention.

This thread seemed to be focused on thefts from somewhere other than busy parking lots. If someone goes to the trouble to get the VIN, get a key made, and come back to get the truck, I doubt that The Club is going slow them down a whit.

Except that is not how 90% of the truck thefts work.
Being in Texas we see it daily and it is always from motel parking lots or event center parking areas.
They come in, jam the lock to gain access, then they have a process to start the truck with the keyless system.

If the truck has the Club or some other deterrent they usually pass it up for easier prey.

As @trailrydr mentions, some of the simplest deterrents are the most effective - even adding a non-factory theft decal to your bumper - anything that makes the vehicle less attractive or implies more work/time. One reason we have dogs in our house.

Anyone familiar with the Cross Bronx or Brooklyn Queens Expressways in NYC will understand how quickly a vehicle can be stripped to a bare frame. We were stuck in traffic on the Cross Bronx (middle lane fortunately) which is below street level and an older gent's car started to overheat. He pulled off onto the shoulder which also served as an entrance from the cross street behind and exit to the next street - both elevated. He had just started up the ramp when two vans pulled up to his car, 5 or 6 guys jumped out, and stripped it bare as we all watched. They passed the guy with his vehicle minus frame in the vans.

Catalytic converter theft is big here. So are thefts of trucks dropped off the night before for service. Even the dealerships are being hit.
All the more reason to have multiple magazines for your favorite firearm. ‘Course I’m from Texas.
