    Bill,

We also have 2 houses 120 miles apart. We are retired and bought the 2nd one 7 years ago as a weekend home/cabin. Ended up spending 80% of time there since.

2nd home is on 3 acres of which 2 acres of grass and rest is woods. Can’t see any neighbors from the house. The community is a gated 3600 acres of which 2600 acres are wooded preserve with 100’s of miles of private horse trails and private hunt areas. https://ihammock.net/

Lawn service quit last year and wife wanted to cut the grass herself. She bought a zero turn mower and then shortly after developed a bad back issue requiring surgery. So I inherited the job of mowing. It needs to be cut weekly for 8-9 months and monthly 3 months. I actually enjoy it. It’s rural lot and doesn’t have any bushes etc to keep trimmed.

We are both private pilots and the community has its own private airport which we’ve flown into for 30 years to visit friends before buying in here. I had to give up flying for medical reasons and sold our plane about 12 years ago.

    Hey Jerry,

That is awesome! We are both still working full time but do plan to retire in the next couple of years. We do plan on divesting the smaller house. I would love to take care of my one house but at 112 degrees I am very happy to farm it out. lol.

Speaking of pilots, that is incredible that you are both pilots. I had a fair weather pilot license like 30 years ago. Haven’t flown since like 1987.

Getting old is a frame of mind. Being able to do less things physically is aging.

When I was 30 I used to say I wanted to live to the ripe old age of 72. Now that I am 65 not so much. Still doing pretty good but not as good as I used to. Need to get my butt exercising a little more and I would have more energy.
