I've used them for several decades, and as long as they aren't re-used, I've never had one get loose.

In some circumstances, the bolt can stretch so it would appear the nut has loosened.

Lippert says 7" clearance is required. You need to get out the string and see where the jacks are in relation to the departure angle. Even though my jacks were above the line, there was still only 4-5" of clearance to the ground. Some on here, myself being one. have been successful in getting GD to send a srt of shorter rear jacks. I think others where not as fortunate.
Your best bet is to go through Jerry McCarthy. He's a VP at GD. His email is [email protected]. Good luck.
I emailed Jerry and got two new jacks delivered to my house today. Thank you for the information. I have compared the old and new jacks. Both say 3.0 on the sticker and it is the same distance from top of motor to bottom of black supporting sleeve. Not sure if the new jacks are going to help.

The total overall length from top of motor to the bottom of the foot pad is 22.25 inches. The new jacks at least in the box are fully retracted. The olds one don't retract all the way, the last 2 inches don't retract. Currently I don't see a way to remove the foot pads. The old ones jacks removing the foot pads were super easy.

Thanks! At least the rest of us can go measure ours. And if the same length I guess there's no reason to request "shorter" ones.

Thanks, another name to drop. Did the new jacks increase the clearance?
