I have not put on the new jacks yet. The new ones might increase my clearance because the old jacks don't fully retract. Where as the new ones still in the box are fully retracted. That should gain me about two inches.

Great news, got a reply from Brad Smith in under 2 hours that he was sending new jacks. Follow up call an hour later from customer service to see if the problem had been resolved, had I sent photos? Replied that Mr. Smith already approved new jacks, they said that should take care of the matter. Would like to hear if anyone has changed the jacks out, how much of a project as I will have to do it in the storage lot, or is it a device center job?

It's an easy repair. The jacks are wired to a plug that will be buried up in the foam insulation. Gently pull it out so you can unplug it. All of the jack mounting holes will not have bolts in them. Don't freak. The factory put bolts where holes were accessible.
It's a one man job, probably taking 15 Min per jack.

That is good news. It took about a week for me to get the jacks to my house in San Antonio.

I have two plugs on my new jacks. Do you know what the toque specs are for the bolts.

Just installed new rear leveling jacks on my 2022 280RS. My jacks from the factory had only 5" clearance. With the Snap Pads installed, I only had 4". Was waived down by a few concerned motorists telling me my rear jacks were down. Raised the jacks one bolt hole and got to 5".

I referred to the Lippert installation manual and discovered the minimum clearance is 7". Forget the string test it doesn't matter. Minimum required clearance is 7".

Emailed Grand Design Customer Service and explained the situation to them. I received a telephone call within 2 hours and was informed that they were shipping me the short jacks. 22" vs 24". Received the jacks UPS within one week.

I now have 8" clearance without the Snap Pads and 7" with.

Thank you Grand Design Customer Service!!!

If you have time would you mind measuring distance from the top of the jack motor to the landing pad?

I ask because I keep reading on the forum we should get the "short" version of the jacks. But when I measured mine I'm getting just a little over 22 inches. And I've only got 4-5 inches of clearance. I'm thinking if I tell GD customer service that I need the "short" jacks I'm just going to end up with a second set of what I already have.

    Mike,

I measured my jacks from the foot to the top of the motor. First jacks were 24" and the replacements were 22".

The old jack had pins holding the foot on and do not fully retract. The shorter jacks have a welded on foot and fully retract. This is the difference
