    Factory Furion receptical and portable 200 watt panel.

    Hello to all. New owner of a 2017 Imagine 2670 MK. If I plug in a portable solar panel into the factory Furion receptical. Does the solar panel need to have a charge controller or does the factory power converter handle regulating current?

    Welcome to the Forum. The Furion receptacle is just a direct wired connection to the 12 volt battery. The factory power converter does nothing for solar panel regulation.

    King Air Pilot, welcome to the forum! Most the portable solar panels, aka “Suitcase” panels have built in charge controllers.

    I just saw thgis
    post and am kind of in the same quandry as the OP. My Furrion receptacle say 10a. From what I find 10a should max at about 150 watts from a solar panel. If the panel , like a Renogy 200 watt kit, has a 20a controller, can I still plug directly into the Furrion receptacle? Or would this overload the circiut and overcharge the battery?

    @lorend, if your kit has a charge controller built-in it won't overcharge the batteries. If the plug really is limited to 10 Amps, your 200-watt suitcase may push it a bit, but for occasional use I think you'd be OK.

    Agreed. Also depends on how the receptacle was installed. Fixed one for a friend of mine and it had a 10 amp blade fuse between the receptacle and the battery. Used 12 ga wires.
