So if I get this straight....I need to add the weight of the actual hitch PLUS the weight of the (10/15%) trailer GVWR, take these 2 numbers ADD them up.

This total will give me the correct amount of weight my truck will be carrying in its "payload capacity" in the truck itself... not counting everything else we might ad to the truck, people, dogs, chairs etc.. (excluding the towing weight of the trailer).
    Have I got this right?

Who's on first, What's on second and I don't know on third!

Hopefully I'm be picking up my trailer Mid February. I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a roll prior to all of this.

I did the same looked for two years decided what I wanted then I bought the truck. Because I normally only keep vehicles 4 years I bought a 2019 F150 Lariat 2.7 with trailer tow. The truck is well over the tow capacity of the 2450RL that we wanted. The trailer and truck combo worked perfect through Northern Ontario this summer. I will be making the same trip next summer too.
One word of caution every option you add to the truck lowers the load capacity of the truck. A sun roof lowers the weight capacity by 400lbs thats a huge loss.
    Good luck

Thanks Ken for the info....what do you mean “ The truck is well over the tow capacity of the 2450RL that we wanted”? How much can your truck tow? What is max weight of your trailer?

I re-weighed today with scale and better set up. Also added 1/3 tank water and got 840# tongue weight. Think I'm in the right ballpark. Planning on another trip soon and will stop at a set of scales for an accurate weight fully loaded,

My truck can tow 9,000lbs my weight capacity for the truck is 1418lbs the weight capacity of our trailer is 16xx (forgot the exact pounds). Trailer loaded full tank of gas too and 3/4 tank of water 64xxlbs trailer weight. When we weighed at the scale trailer was 2500lbs under my tow capacity.
