I have a 295RL a few months old and towing it with a 2017 chevrolet silverado 2500 6.0 gas short bed. It has towing package with 4.10 axle and integrated brake controller. I also put on air bags with an onboard compressor. I ride with about 40-45 pounds of air which levels it out nicely for a great ride. I just put on the tire linc TPMS to the trailer as I just missed out by a month on that being a standard option on the 295RL. It works ok. Tells me the tire temp and psi. I think that is critical to have being that my payload is over.
As far as weight. I'm almost positive I have exceeded payload. I estimated weights and a 2500 that is a 4x4 does not have great payload at all. I have not been to any scales but would like to at some point. I am just nervous to do so as I have no idea how to even use a scale. Meaning how to I even line up in it for axles and stuff. Do they have instructions somewhere for dummies?

Anyway, it is a constant battle with the wife over loading stuff in truck and trailer. She has no concern at all even when I tell her it's a safety issue. She thinks I'm nuts and just being OCD.

You can find stuff on the internet but also, just find one while in your car or truck, and drive onto it assuming no big trucks around. You'll see the different scale areas...

YesI get it with my comment about “not knowing it was back there”, but my friend does a lot of traveling and when you compare a Momentum 376 with a 295RL, I can also see his point as well. That’s was one of the reasons I went with the 230rl, even at the Cat Scales we were within our GVWR, but I’m pretty sure I would have busted that with the 295...so me personally if I had chosen the 295 I would have also chosen the F250 or 350 just to give the added safety margin...but I have seen a Tacoma pulling a reflection 150 and boy was he struggling, it’s all a personal choice.

Traded our 230RL for a new 280RS last September. We pull with a GMC 2016 2500HD 6.0l gasser. We have been across the country a few times and average 8mpg.
