We HH or BDW routinely. Probably two dozen nights last year. I can say without a doubt, way too many folks have attempted to become hosts and you need to do a lot of homework to make sure you can get to them and get your rig situated. Personally, we've generally has great experiences and places, but there were a few over the past few years. Definitely be conscious where they're setting you up. We had friends that were in a pasture with others last year in TN at a BDW for a couple nights. Rain hit hard and they couldn't get themselves out departure day. Buried their dually and coach was floundered in its ruts!

Another big yes for Harvest Host from us - spent 14 nights at HH locations last year - all very welcoming and level sites either gravel or paved (we haven't done BDW). As @geotex1 mentioned, do your homework. Read the reviews and take note of the number of reviews and then look at the the overhead images from google maps but don't rely on google or garmin for correct directions. Most locations on HH website specify where to park, hours/days open, directions, etc., but I contacted each host by phone prior to insure directions were accurate (two were not - one would have put us way overweight on a small bridge and the other we had to disconnect to park) and exactly where the parking locations were on their property. Some were a bit off the the interstates but we considered that a plus.

We have been members since 2020 and use them often for overnight stays while on the way to a destination. Most are pretty great. Overall, very pleased. The downside we,ve seen is that we tend to spend almost as much or more at the HH location as a campsite just to say "thank you" to a small business for allowing the stay. I really like the convenience of the locations and ease of booking. Will stay a member for many more years.

We bought a HH membership before we had an RV so we could lock into the promo rate at the time. We absolutely love HH and look for those sites frequently.
Last year we upgraded to include the BDW option and that part has been a bust due to one too many sketchy hosts (as we’ve also heard from others).
So we downgraded to have HH only and will continue with that.2021 Solitude 310GK: Linen/DP windows/gen prep/slide toppers/king bed/EOH disc brakes/Cooper-H tires

Harvest Hosts is too expensive. I’m not talking about the membership fee, but all the locations. We enjoyi the Wineries, distilleries, and breweries. They always end up costing us way more than a night at a campground.

It’s fun to visit these small businesses and enjoy a bit of this beautiful countries sites. I like others will say it’s not a money saver unless you need/have to.
I like beer and my wife likes to purchase things at gift shops so it’s not usually cheaper but we like visiting these type of locations.
Where we use this the most are for overnights on long trips between destinations.
That said you can usually get it for less than the $99.

We started off with BDW mostly as a replacement to the Walmart Inn after our last experience was on the sketchy side. As others have mentioned already, we'll read up on reviews, check the location out via Google satellite and ask the host questions. Unfortunately, some host are in town and dare their driveway only because they get the membership paid. If you do some research, you can get fabulous sites like we have. We love it. With BDW you can stay multiple nights. Last year we upgraded and added HH. Also great but mostly 1 night. Here's a few of the sites that we did last year. It's a great way to meet people and cut down on travel cost.
