Getting Accurate Weights
Just got a new truck. Took it to Cat Scales for a weigh. The weights I got are whole number weights : 5,000 pounds front axle and 4,000 pounds rear axle. Not 5,024 or 4,011. Chances of exact numbers I got are zilch. How can I get more precise numbers? Thanks!!

If I remember correctly, CAT scales are calibrated to be accurate to +/- 20 lbs. I've never had a CAT scale ticket that showed anything other than 00 or 20 or 40 or 60 or 80 at the end of a number.....something like 4840...or 8860. So your truck's front and rear axle weights are very close to the 4000/5000 lb numbers.

Chances of both numbers being even thousands is remote although not impossible. I would contact the scale operator and ask whether there might be an issue or not. Other than that my experience is the same as xrated posted.

You could contact Escapees and make an appointment for Smart Weigh. They provide exact numbers at the individual wheels for tow vehicle and trailer, hitched and unhitched.

I've used a CAT scale not too far from our home a few times and never had rounded numbers in the thousand like that. If it's not too far away and worthwhile, I'd go back with those slips and ask for a free re-scale and see. As @xrated said, the last number being a zero is ok but not the rest.

I agree with using Escapee's "SmartWeigh" we have used it twice to weigh our rig. From what little I have read its the only place you can get exact weight numbers by individual wheel.
Anyone can camp at an Escapee's RV Park and utilize SmartWeigh, you just don't get the discounts members do. But not all Escapee's RV Parks have SmartWeigh. Rainbow's End Livingston TX, Sumter Oaks Bushnell FL, North Ranch Congress AZ are the only places listed on the Escapee's web site.
It's a little pricey but its well worth the expense and you get a Weightmaster that will explain everything and advise you if you are over weight. Now SmartWeigh scales are calibrated, but are not certified so you can not use the weights you get for licensing purposes.Steve & Tami Cass - Escapee's, FMCA Members, Texas Fulltimers Since July 2020

I've been using truck scales for over 40 years & they are all accurate to 20 lbs. At 5k & 4K if accurate, I'd buy a lottery ticket.

Then the CAT scale operator did not have the scale set correctly. They must have had them set for a tractor-trailer which measures at a much higher number vs a normal truck and RV.
