    Accident repair, and experiences?

Thursday afternoon our trailer got whacked. T-boned, bent the rear axle and crumpled up the door and the bathroom on our 2600 RB.
We're fine and the truck is fine.
This happened in southern SC (Hardeville). We unloaded everything out of the camper and hauled it all back to Central Florida in a uhaul trailer.
Monday the insurance company will flatbed it from the tow company's yard to their own facility near Savanna and an adjuster will look at it and advise repair or total.
Any one here have experience with this sort of thing?
Anyone care to share either good or bad?
I have never gone thru this in an RV and wondering what to expect other than a hassle.

If the frame has the slightest tweak, they'll total it. If/when they do, be sure to fight for a dollar amount commensurate with the current market. If not totaled, I would personally want that level of repair done at the Factory Service Center.

I hope you're able to get back to camping this season!

Hate seeing posts like this..glad no one was hurt ( not physically anyhow)

Contact GD ASAP, they now have an insurance repair center within the factory grounds. They'll likely want detailed pictures. If the frame is bent I would suggest you push for it to be totaled

Thank you. I just sent an e mail with a couple pictures.
I'll advise what they say once they get back to me.

Not sure about the frame. She was not going very fast. She hit the back side of the rear tire and only the stub axle is bent I'm pretty sure.

Sorry to hear about this J. We just got back Wed of last week from Camp Lake Jasper. Beautiful area but the traffic was congested and moving fast. I am glad to hear you are all fine. Hopefully they can get you into a new rig soon, given current lead times for competent repairs, this will be awhile.

We had a wrecked trailer that was totaled, and our insurance company was great (Erie Insurance).
I called around to several dealers in my area and got several numbers on the value of the unit. Also did some research online.
Our check on the loss was well within the values that I had gotten. Just do your due diligence. Keep them honest.
Can't say anything regarding repairs. GOOD LUCK!

Shop labor at $90+ an hour adds up quick.... $15-20K isn't unimaginable based on your photos. Rule of thumb is that if the repair exceeds 75% of the depreciated book value, it will be totaled. You'll probably need to fight for a higher demand-based value to be assessed vs. book.

This is also why gap insurance matters. You'll need to sue for the difference if the insurance company totals it. We didn't have it on our motorhome and ate $5K when it was totalled last year.

Initial response from GD is that they typically only do warrant repairs there.

I'll advise if I get an addition response.
