    Furnace question - solitude 377mbs

Hi - Newbie question. We are traveling and spending the first night in Walmart lot, so no electricity. Is it possible to run the furnace with propane without running the HP? We do not yet have solar or a generator.

    Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. It is possible, but the furnace uses a lot of battery power, I wouldnt expect it to last the night on a single stock battery.

I'm not sure what an "HP," is but as @FT4NOW said, if you have a single lead-acid battery, it won't last an entire cold night. The fan motor for the furnace is the big draw. You will also need to make sure the Walmart you plan on using allows overnight stays and, if so, whether or not they allow generators at night (if you have one).

Now... welcome to the forum! You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

Could be - good guess. If so, that certainly can't be used without shore power or a generator.

Would a lithium battery get him through the night using the furnace? Curious as well.

Depends on what else he would be running on a single 100AH LiFePO4 battery. If he has a residential refrigerator, probably not. We have two 100AH LiFePO4 batteries with a residential fridge and we might make it through a cold night on batteries.

I knew the draw was big, but didnt realize that the furnace had that big of a draw, while using two lithium batteries. WOW!

That's figuring in the furnace and an 18 cu. ft. residential refrigerator, too.

I can confirm this. I had 2- 100AH lithium's in my previous unit and on a cold night I burned through both in 11/12 hours with the residential fridge. I didn't have a monitor yet and I was surprised when everything quit the next morning. I had driven about 6 hours prior so I had used some prior to stopping (over whatever the truck supplied)
