    Momentum 351MS - 2022 F450 - Reese Gooseneck - Which hitch ball?

    Hi Y'all

The F450's status just changed to shipped, the dealer says it is 3 weeks out. The Momentum should be delivered in mid-May. My dealer, Cookville RV and Marine, is installing a Reese Goose Box on the Momentum.

I am not sure what height gooseneck ball kit I need. I would love to get the B&W, but at 2.5 inches tall, I am not sure if that is too tall? From what I have read, the balls come in .5, 1.5 and 2.5 inches.

Can someone with a similar setup give me some guidance?

    Thanks

I think there are too many variables to answer your question with the information provided. You would need to know the height of the bed off the ground, the bed depth (to the bedrails), and the height of the bottom of the Goose Box off the ground with the trailer level. You may be better off waiting until everything gets here.

Thanks, Rob. I was hoping someone with a similar setup would tell me about their experience. I am not 100% sure, but I suspect that most of the stock F450s would have the same bed height and I also suspect that most RVs using the same Lippert frame would have the same frame (and pinbox) height.

Even those things can vary - the truck depending on wheels and tires, spring package, 4WD, etc.; the trailer depending on whether one options the 8K axles or not (which come with different tires and wheels).

Ours is an 2019 F450 Chassis/Cab with a Knapheide flat bed. We just use the turnover ball under the trap door. 2021 Momentum 395 MS-R with reese goosebox.

The RV Dealer installed the goosebox, we had to adjust it because the idiot dealer in Redmond Oregon didn't take any measurements before the put the goosebox on the trailer. I agree with second chance, wait till you have it all together.

My truck will have the Ford puck system on it and I would prefer not to have a collection of pins.

So, they can adjust the goose box to fit the truck/pin combo? If that is the case, I'll get the B&W and have them adjust it when I get to the RV dealer.

The reason I am bringing this up is that I am buying the truck in SWFL and the RV is in Eastern TN. We are on a tight schedule so I need to do my best to NOT cause delays at the dealership.

What's that old saying.... An ounce of preparation can prevent a long delay later...

The Reese Goosebox has several pre dilled spots to allow it to be moved up or down. The idiot dealer, who should be the subject matter experts on this, just placed it on the "Mid" setting the day before. I towed noise high for months till some one showed me how to adjust it, plus helped since it is a two person job.

I had towed gooseneck farm trailers before and loved the smooth tow and extra articulation of what it was towing so went with the gooseneck for our Momentum. The only regret I have is the choice of dealer.

Note that the Reese Goosebox may not be compatible with the 351MS. I believe GD went to the new LCI "Rhino Box" frame with the change to the "S" version of the 2022 351M (351MS). The last I heard... Reese has yet to release a Goosebox version to fit the LCI "Rhino Box" frame/pinbox.

Ouch!!! This is the first I am hearing about this.

The dealer says it has a Rhino Pinbox on it. He took a picture of the hole pattern for me.

I am checking with LCI now to see what frame I have.

I wonder if the Gen-Y will work on the Rhino Box frame.
