    Bike Rack

I know the issue with bike racks and the bumpers. On my previous trailer I had no issues with the a bike rack being on the trailer.
On my Imagine 2970Rl the bumper is nearly against the body of the trailer. Just wondering if anyone has installed a bike rack on the bumpers of
    a Grand Design trailer?

I cut the bumper off of mine and installed a receiver. Lot of work, but worth the peace of mind.

You definitely want to make sure it is RV approved. We have a fifth wheel 303RLS and ended up going with the swagman dispatch bike rack. It is fifth wheel approved and it is amazing! We watched it from our back up camera on our first trip out and no movement. Very well made and no worries about loosing our bike’s!

I went with the Dispatch as well. Built like a tank. I didn’t want to add something I had to worry about on the road.

I have that as well just was not sure about the bumper weight. My train of thought is that i would remove the tire and the weight of the 2 bikes would be just a little more.

Leverage will make two bikes and a rack apply many times the force to the bumper as a tire would.

Absolutely do not attache to the bumper.

On our last trip I bent our bike rack from the bouncing. It was not an RV approved rack, (didn't know that was a thing when we bought it). But, with what it looked like I can guarantee if it was mounted to the bumper it would have ripped it off.

+1 on the Swagman. Best rack I've ever used.

I did not have a rear bumper on my unit and had a rear receiver hitch. I had a Thule bike rack on that and bent the arm on a rough patch of highway and lost a bike a few months back. Since then, I installed a front receiver hitch to the front of my truck, and am very happy with them up front now.

Noticed that the Swagman Traveler XC2 is considerably less expensive than the Dispatch. Anyone tried that one?
