Hi Mike,
You are correct that twist on wire nuts (although they are used extensively in RVs) are just a bad idea for anything that moves. By comparison, they are strictly forbidden by ABYC for boats and not used as OEM connectors for cars or trucks.
There is a "wire nut" that is vibration resistant. It has an internal barrel that clamps the wires and then the insulating wire nut screws on over that. These can be used to connect solid core to stranded core wire. These can be difficult to find in the US, but are still quite common in Canada.

I have used these in 480VAC industrial motors.
They are good when space is tight like a small motor terminal box.
