    Messy problem

    Well I learned that our black tank valve doesn't hold THE HARD WAY !!!! I opened up the cap to attach the hose and I had a surprise waiting for me , after gagging for 10 minutes I put the hose on and flushed the tank,I picked up a spin on valve and installed it to prevent future messes until I could get it in for the warranty repair list I've been making,so we took it to lake murry in ok this weekend and I went to hook the sewer hose and found the sewer pipe coming out of the belly of the trailer loose and moving around, by the next morning the trailer smelled like sewer , the black tank had been seeping in the belly of the trailer. Somehow the pipe that exits the bottom of the trailer has come loose from the piping. I took it in today for the warranty repairs. Next time I'll put fresh water in the black tank to check valves before I use it

    You know--I never really think about all those things when we stop at a campground. But rolling down the highway at 70 mph for extended times is bound to shake things loose. I guess this is a lesson to all of us to stop for a minute and at least do a "spot check" before we start doing anything else.
    So sorry you had this happen to you but a great lesson for the rest of us!

    Something to think about;

    After reading up on this forum some time ago, I read about using one of the spin on valves, to help equalize the gray tanks. I did put one of those on my unit, opened the two grays, and found that it did help to equalize those tanks. The other major benefit is that if something does go wrong with any of the valves, including the black, you can shut the flow immediately. One of the best and cheapest add on's that I have made.

    Not sure what a "spin valve" is but this is what I use and it works great. I use it primarily to equalize the grey tanks.

    That is the valve that I am using. Put it on, never need to take it off. I would have added a photo, but I'm one of those old guys that barely knows how to deal with a computer.
