Some folks reading through this thread might be wondering about these allusions to contamination problems. The problems may arise if the fresh water input and the black flush input are connected to the trailer at the same time, whether via two separate hoses or via the kind of modified input plumbing discussed in this thread.

Some like @Calbar might undertake this mod without understanding the risk.

So, public service, not disagreeing with anyone, here's a thread in which plumbing guru @Cate&Rob describes the risk inherent in having the two inputs connected at the same time.

    Hi Boyscout,

Thanks for the link to Rob's plumbing post but just to clarify I totally understand the risk of contaminating your drinking lines with the black water tank by having a single input. One reason that I am not sure I will do it. That said if I do this mod I will need to make sure that I use all of the precautions such as on/off valves as well as check valves to ensure there is no risk to my potable water lines. For a small bit of convenience not worth doing a half baked install and having someone get really sick or worse. Even with the precautions there is still a risk of something not working properly and contaminating the fresh water plumbing.

^^^^^^This. Doesn't involve installing any parts, takes no additional time to install anything and it's free.

^^^^^ Did this as usual this past weekend. Thinking about this further with the risk associated with tying the black and fresh water plumbing together I am thinking of leaving well enough alone.

That is a good idea... May have to adapt that to my Imagine. Thanks!

Here’s my setup. Includes a primary and secondary sediment filter. Easy to change, when needed.
