There is such a thing as a seal conditioner that a friend used when his got dried out. It worked and now he keeps water in the bowl when stored.
And if storing for longer stretches, RV antifreeze instead of water as it won't evaporate and it's formulation will keep seals from leaching the compounds that stabilize them and resist degradation.

Well, no one has the Dometic 320 in stock, or the seal for the Thetford, part number 42141. All on backorder. My dealer which I purchased the rig from has the exact same toilet in stock but, that doesn't really help. I guess I will get some plumbers grease and see if that will temporarily fix the issue.

I also have a call into GD, waiting on a callback. See if they can offer any solution.

Sometimes you can put a rubber glove on and run your hand around the seal to clean it up. I haven't had to do it on my Thetford toilet, but did have to do it often on the Dometic.

I put a Dometic toilet in my last trailer and wish I had kept the Thetford.

The ring of water outlets along the rim developed an odor that I couldn't get rid of. I also think the Thetford flushes better.

That's strange, I feel the opposite, but we all have our own opinions. I really like the full ring of water that comes out, helps keep bowl clean. I periodically will clean the underside where all the water comes out and dont notice any odors or anything like that.

The Dometic can grow some fun things in the channel feeding the bowl ports, especially if you camp at campgrounds with poor quality well water. I speak from experience as I put the Dometic into our last camper before we picked it up new. It is why I became religious about flushing through the water system every time we return to home base. Standard freshwater sanitizing seemed to always seemed to clear it up. That said, I heard the manufacturing process changed such that the feed channel is glazed too.

@FT4NOW @boyscout - Thanks for the info. Maybe a better toilet is in order. I'll have to make a call to my dealer tomorrow and see what they may have.
Yeah, I don't know why only in a short period of time my seal went bad, we just purchased the rig in October.

I'll look at the dometic units.

    Thanks for all the info.
I just changed my seal in a Thetford toilet in an Open Range that is 10 years old, first time it had been changed. Not that big a job to change, took me about 30 minutes and it was the first time I had changed one. Just sold the trailer waiting on a new Reflection to come in.
