No problem with gas mileage on my HO, without a trailer I can get down below 11 l/100 km which is 21-22 MPG (typically 15 MPG when driving around town). No turbo lag that I can find, it’s a truck with an ECM programmed to tow, it’s not a race car.
If your going to tow really heavy, get the most capable truck, if not, buy what’s suits your fancy.Last edited by Thorvald; 08-20-2022 at 07:40 AM.

I'm not saying it's a huge difference, but HO runs lower compression so at the same boost level it'll make oh so slightly less power. But at the same time, the Aisin is geared a little differently too, like the gear ratios aren't the same as with the 68RFE and of course how you drive it is going to make a bigger difference than probably anything else.

Lower compression ratio but higher torque.

Yea it's higher torque at a higher boost level. So it's more potential for sure, the turbo is feeding more air into the engine. You also have to feed more fuel too.
The HO I think is a slightly bigger turbo, the engine is lower compression, there are a few other upgrades I found when I was previously researching but it has been some time. I was eyeing a 3500 with HO but then the pandemic hit and stuff I was going to do with it didn't matter.2015 JayCo Jay Flight Swift 238RB (totaled, bent frame 2" in 2017)
