What KIND of choices are there to to overnight with generator power or battery: (of course, all with some kind of permission)

Walmart.....truck stops....I'm aware of, but could you give me more options please, personal experiences of places to pull over and overnight!!

Thanks all and appreciate the patience with redundancy.

Casinos! All of the Indian Casinos in Oregon allow for free (you may have to join their players club and throw a couple bucks away in their casino) overnight camping in designated areas. I don't know about other states, but pretty sure they all have the same kind of option.

Those of you who have stayed at Cracker Barrel overnight - what’s the protocol for that? Thanks.

We've spent nights in Walmart's and Meijer's, rest areas (They ALWAYS have signs:
No overnight parking, but everybody ALWAYS does)!!

A couple of years ago we broke down in Ohio on our way to Florida. The closest place to park our Solitude on only 7 cylinders was a Walmart. There was even a TT in the parking lot. Based on what I saw online about "some" Walmart stores being "flakey" about RV's in their parking lots I went inside and tracked down the manager, explained our situation including our appointment the diesel shop the next morning, and was granted formal permission to spend the night.

A couple of hours later a very large tow truck pulled up and beat on our door saying that I we didn't leave immediately they were going to tow our 14K+ Solitude to the impound! When I explained that we had permission frim the manager (I made sure to write her name down) he relented and left me is card. Ironically, when we found that our truck needed a new engine and would NOT be towing our RV home, that same company was the ONLY outfit with a truck big enough to tow our Solitude to a KOA!

Moral, I would always ask the manager first, unless there are already RV's parked for the night.

Woooooow, that's amazing, cool and a little scary at the same time.
Hope it all worked out....except for the bill.
    Thanks for your input.

    @Rgpracer

We stayed at Walmart but prefer not to,
I find Cracker Barrel has spots that aren't big enough unless your towing something under 28', but occasionally you can get a perimeter spot with permission from a manager.
Cabela's & Bass Pro Shops are excellent choices... and they don't mind you opening up slideouts for the night to fully use your RV.
Many of the Lowe's home centers also allow overnight stops.
Someone mentioning casinos...most do allow overnight RV parking and they almost always have security vehicles that patrol their lots all through the night. We've stayed twice on a college campus with permission from the campus police department...one even had us park next to their maintenance bldg and then showed us a 120V outdoor receptacle we could plug into! Don't overlook churches with big parking lots, better on week nights when services aren't going on.
Firehouses that are large enough to have wedding venues usually have big parking areas that won't infringe on the fire vehicles....a quick call to them usually yields a spot for the night. If you do stay at truck stops make sure you have ear plugs and be prepared for them leaving at 4-5 am. Flying-J's aren't to bad and most have a separate RV area with a dozen or so parking spots.

Big bass pro shop, cabelas, and passport America. In that order too. BB is way nicer than Walmart no joe dirts running their cars around the parking lot. And the buildings are beautiful to look at, much quieter.

Cracker Barrel is also good for overnights. Havent used Harvest Host, but have heard great things.

If you are eligible, Military campgrounds are good as well. Usually priced in the $20-30 per night with full hookups at a lot of them.

I'm still active duty, and have access, my buddy works for the army core of engineers and also has access. I think if you have commissary, exchange, etc access, you can use the campground too.
