I really like your approach to this challenge and glad to see that you are enjoying it!
These graphs and discussions may add a little clarity:https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/f...pging/1/page/1

As you likely have figured out, using the WFCO converter at lower SOC and standard AC chargers at higher SOC likely is faster. A combination of both, I believe, would provide the highest charge rate but make sure charge rate does not exceed battery manufacture's specifications.
Also, to simulate the heater load on battery during testing (near home?) the heater fan can be run without heating.Last edited by TimtheToolMan; 04-28-2022 at 09:15 PM.

Update:
Thanks for all who commented. Lots of good advice. There are definitely pros and cons for the different options.
So here is what I decided on. I always like when a thread has a conclusion so here goes:
I decided to purchase:
1. New AGM Deep cycle
2. Victron 15A charger w/Bluetooth (waterproof)
3. Renogy 100ah LifePo w/Bluetooth
4. Blue sea battery switch
I decided to go with a hybrid solution for several reasons. Most of the time we have electric hookups so with a new AGM deep cycle, I have plenty of power vs the original dealer battery, it can use the WFCO to recharge, it claims to charge 5x faster than a flooded LA, it should get me through 1 night if the power goes out, it doesn't leak, has good vibration protection and is a nice upgrade.
The Renogy will serve as the auxiliary battery for overnight use. It has Bluetooth so I can monitor the state of charge on my phone, at 100ah it should easily make it through the night (according to inputs I received), it will recharge quickly (<2.5 hours on the Victron charger), it is light so moving it around is easy, I can put it on the tongue or inside if I want, will last 10 years and is a step to going all lithium if I choose to in the future.
Then, when I do go dry camping once or twice a year, this is my plan:
- Arrive at campsite with charged batteries
- Run on the AGM (main) and generator as needed through the evening
- Switch to the Renogy 100ah (Aux) at night to run furnace, water pump etc.
- In the morning, switch back to AGM for house use, start the Generator, plug entire RV into generator. This will charge the AGM on the WFCO and I will also charge Renogy on Victron. When the generator hours are over at 10:00a.m. I should be in good shape. I also have the option of using my portable solar panels during the day to top off the charge of either battery.
Since I plan to start the generator in the morning and plug in the RV anyway, the only extra work is switching batteries and hooking up the Victron (ring terminals installed).
We'll see how this goes next month on our trip.
