    Air compressor

What is the best air compressor to fill the tire to recommend 80 lbs. I prefer AC voltage but can do 12v as an option

Short answer: there is no "best". You will need one that goes to at least 110-120 psi to get a decent fill rate for that size tire. Ones rated to 80 psi will struggle to actually fill a tire to that pressure. I bought a DeWalt inflater that uses the DeWalt batteries, so it is the "best" for me. It will fill the 110 psi trailer tires with no issues, but is slow, but I'm generally in no huge hurry. I had a PorterCable before that and it was 120V, so I do like the portability of the DeWalt much more.

You'll likely get lots of opinions. The Viair seem to be popular, albeit a bit pricey, IMO.

My Momentum Toy Hauler has an onboard generator and there is an outside receptacle between the front door and the basement storage. I bought a DeWalt 120VAC compressor several years ago and carry it in the garage when we camp. It's the 6 gallon pancake compressor and it will run up to 165 psi. My trailer has the "G" rated tires on it that I run 110 psi and that compressor does a great job on them.

Welcome to the forum! As @WhittleBurner referenced, there are numerous threads on the forum discussing compressors.

Also, it's often helpful for other folks to know some more about your RV when you post questions. You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

Forum Actions (on menu bar) -> Edit Profile -> Edit Signature (under My Settings on the left)

    I carry one of these.

I also have the Dewalt inflator, and love it, but usually use the air compressor because it is so much quieter. Does not wake up the neighbors for that cold morning tire pressure too off.

I use the Viair that works off the truck battery. Whatever you get get a 100% duty cycle, most of the small battery powered ones die quickly without shutting them down constantly.

I have both a Kobalt and Husky, both run on 120 or 12V. They both work well, the gauges on both are accurate, and they satisfy my needs for 80PSI. Sure, they are both a little slow, but they are cheap, and can get a replacement at any Lowes or Home Depot. I have the extended warranty on the Kobalt (which has expired) and it is still going strong. I really didn't think it would last this long when I bought it.

If you have no compressor at all, the one recommended by xrated above will be a decent "starter" for all your things with tires, inflatables, and even light duty air tools if they might be in your future. Will do OK when winterizing your trailer. Just get it, and you will find many around the home uses. Bigger is better, but at a space and cost premium. If it is "too much" for having in the camper, then get a small one from Harbor Freight also - a Vlair knock off that runs on 12v and is very compact. It will do high pressure, but is not something I would ever want to use to fill a flat tire with, or even go from 50 to 80 on the truck. But it works great for adding that extra 5 lbs you might need when checking in the morning at the campground, topping off your bike tires, etc. It's very cheap, and good enough for the occasional use you will want it for. Mines going on year 7 with no issues.

For the past year or 2 I've been using the Milwaukee M12. Small, compact and goes up to 110psi. A little slow but you set it to where you want it to stop. Works great. But I'd you have Dewalt tools, they have a similar one that works just as good. They are both around $100 or less. Another one that's well reviewed on this forum is the Viair but it's on the expense side.
