Why would you need to dewinterize before you have water?

Even if you're winterized, you can drain and rinse out the fresh water tank before you leave and have potable water in there. Use that water to flush the toilet, and/or clean out water lines you need to use. Not a big deal.

I use my RV primarily in November and December in Middle Tennessee. I carry a portable air compressor. When temps are going to be in the teens for a prolonged period of time I blow the water out of the lines.

This is what I do when I know I will be using the rig after the first freeze at home. Water in the traps will not freeze unless it is a hard freeze. Empty the system using the low point drains, drain the HW tank if it does not drain with the low point, then blow the lines. This allows you to fill the fresh water tank and use the system while on the road as you head to your “safe” place. No antifreeze to flush.

EDIT - as noted above, winterizing is quick and easy using RV antifreeze. The bigger time consumer is flushing eight litres of pink stuff out of the system.

    Winterizing

To use the plumbing you would need to purge the antifreeze from the lines dewinterize) and run your heat to prevent freezing lines.

Now you could use bottled water in those months and be fine, but that is a different animal.

I actually drain the antifreeze before winter hits out through the low points
I just use it to dilute any water left after blowing out
Up here in Canada the pink actually gets close to freezing so dewinterizing doesn’t take long to flush

I am a bit paranoid about freezing lines and having the pink stuff to deal with in the spring. I blow the lines out, flush with pink stuff, the blow the lines out again. In the spring I can quickly flush out the little bit of remaining pink stuff.

On my old sailboat I used to flush the fresh water lines with cheap vodka. Does not freeze and I always had people willing to help me dewinterize. Before doing this, make sure all of the components in your water system will not be affected by the alcohol.
