    A 2017 F250 diesel platinum was 2238 lbs

Gas engine 350s and 250s are 700-800 lbs lighter so their payloads are 7-800 lbs higher.

Get a 350 diesel, you won’t be sorry.

As far as 450s go I seriously considered one.. they cost only $4-$5000 more than a similar equipped 350 but they are hard to find and too long to fit in my garage.

My 350 SRW fits into my garage with 1” to spare headroom and 6” in length. I back it in slowly.
I have 1" headroom and will have to cut out my work bench to fit but it will be worth it. Pretty sure it's going to be 350 SRW

I spent this morning installing a bump stop in my garage for our new Ram 3500 SRW.
1 inch of spare headroom, 2 inches at garage door and 2 inches at front wall.
    Close, but its there.

Here is a truck F350 SRW that is on the lot that I would seriously consider over an F250. But,,,, Looking at the sticker for payload it says that it should never exceed 3363lb's and this isnt all that much more than the F250 or am I missing something. The truck also has the 11,500 GVRW package and I thought this would give it more payload or again am I missing something. Click image for larger version.

Its a crew cab long bed 4x4 with the 6.7, so it is probably right. If your going crew cab long bed step up to the DRW to get the payload.

The dealer didn't order that truck with the newly available 12400 GVWR package or that payload sticker would read around 4200-4300. It's a shame a lot of dealers don't order the higher payload package, guess they think it will ride rougher.

The new Godzilla engine is quite impressive, and it's an $8K savings over the 6.7 diesel. But those towing very heavy loads and/or in very demanding terrain will need the diesel. Or, if you're a high mileage driver, the diesel's warranted. Otherwise the Godzilla will be cheaper to run in the long run including depreciation.

My problem is me. I'm not going to ever go bigger than my Reflection 323BHS, and my last of the 7.3 diesel F250 is very low mileage. I just bought a F150 2.7 Ecoboost for daily driving, and we never tow our fifth wheel anywhere. Our campground puts it on the sites for us, even. When you start going diesel, F350/F450, Lariat and other high cost options, the camel's back has been fiscally broken.

According to the window sticker that truck is 160” WB, short bed. The 12,400 GVWR is only available on the long bed F-350, not the short bed. Max GVWR for a short bed 350 is 11,500 lbs. I need About 3400 + lbs payload to tow the 337RLS with 2 adults, dog, bird in cabin and Lightweight Andersen hitch for the 5th wheel.

    2,800 lbs pin weight
100 lbs hitch and stuff in bed
450 lbs 2 people, dog bid etc in cabin.
    ———
    3,350 lbs total payload weight
    ====

I tow my 337RLS with a 2019 F-350 diesel short bed Lariat with a 3523 lb payload truck now. I’m replacing it with a 2020 F-350 Lariat Short Bed equipped pretty much the same. I expect the payload to be maybe 100 lb less due to 2020 changes.

I order them without sunroof, Without HD front springs and with 18” tires.

You're correct of course Jerry, I missed the short bed on the sticker.

@Jerryr - with better eyes than I have - has identified from the stickers that this truck you like is a 160" short bed truck.

Do you know that the Reflection 320MKS you want will crush into your cab on sharp turns unless (a) you rely on yourself to be forever cautious about it and avoid situations in which you need to turn sharply or (b) you buy a big heavy auto-sliding hitch that'll remain in your truck most of the time and that will automatically push the trailer back away from the truck cab when making sharp turns?

There are people here who tow fifth wheels on short-bed trucks with standard fixed hitches, but many of us don't trust ourselves or the design of many campgrounds or fueling stations enough to do that. There are things that I really dislike about our Superglide hitch, but there have been quite a few times I was glad we have it.

Just one more thing to think about! Good luck with your choices.

You can solve the bed length issue by getting a pull right hitch. It has an articulating head so it pulls the head away from the truck mechanically on a turn
