Tow 2021 315 RLTS with 2018 Ram 2500 Diesel 4WD Megacab
Looking at the specs for my truck 15400 towing with 1780 payload it looks ok, but I’m new to hauling big trailers. Plan on getting a15,000/1500 or 14,000/1400 WD/sway hitch.
Am I going to like the way it handles the wind or big trucks? I generally go cross country at least once a year.
Thanks and Happy New Year!

Hi kennydan,
As a 315rlts owner (2020 model) I don't think that truck has enough payload.
I own a 2019 GMC 3500 duramax with a 3475 payload.
You will find the 315rlts will have a tongue weight between 1400 and 1700 lbs (I am using a 1600lb Equalizer).
With a 1700 lbs payload rating it will he used mostly for your tongue weight.
On edit. depending on how much stuff you have, you could make it work, but it will be close on the limits of that truck.
Good Luck, and Happy New Year!Last edited by Redapple63; 12-31-2020 at 04:42 PM.

I think you will be really close on payload depending on how much you pack in the trailer and how much you put in the truck. May even be over. I have seen some other like @Redapple63 that are between 1500 and 1700 lbs tongue weight. I have a 297RSTS which is not quite as heavy and I usually run around 1300 lbs tongue weight. Nearly all of the storage on these trailers is in front of the axles so a portion of it translates to tongue weight.
