Norcold fan on back of fridge fell off.

I have some water dripping under my 5th wheel and I wondered if it was coming from the back of the fridge. I opened the bottom compartment. It’s dry, but I found this fan lying inside. I can’t find where it was attached. I assume it’s in the compartment above and I don’t have a ladder with me. The refrigerator still works. Freezer still works. I’ll get it fixed when we get home next week, but does anyone know what it actually does? Defrost? Assist in cooling? Do I risk ruining the fridge by continuing to use it? Thanks. It moves the hot air out of the 'stack' behind the fridge. It helps the fridge cool better by moving the hot air out.

I had to change mine a couple of weeks ago. I also do not carry a ladder. I backed my truck up along side the trailer and stood on the tailgate.

You should be able to purchase a replacement from Amazon. A basic 92 mm(?) Computer fan will work. I would recommend installing two if you can. The more air you move out of the area behind the fridge the better it will cool.

From the photo, it looks like the fan didn't just fall off - it fell apart. @OurNewEra gave you good advice on what to do about it.

Thank you guys. It did self destruct. I was tempted to pull the truck up to the side of the trailer, but I’m sure the owners of this campground would frown upon driving on the grass. Fortunately, we’ve cooled off in my neck of the woods so the fridge and freezer are maintaining 38 and 0 without being set on the max setting. Looks like an easy replacement. I’m going to call GD Monday to see if they will send out the part or I’ll just get it off Amazon. Thanks again!

Here is a pic of the backside of the fridge so you can see approximately how the fan is mounted. I don’t think there is any way to replace the fan without removing the fridge to access that area.

Thank you. I opened the panel from outside and discovered the fans are behind a piece of wood paneling. One fan still works and since it’s under warranty I’m going to take it in after our last trip in October. Thanks again!
