    Filling Fresh Water Tank Question

Hi! Is there some kind of device to put on your fresh water hose so that you know how many gallons you’ve put in so that you don’t overfill it? Thanks in advance!

They have flow meters as shown by @Rich T. If your goal is to fill the tank full there are overflow tubes on the tanks. When water comes out of those the tanks are full. What is your definition of 'overfill'?

I have been using one like this: https://www.amazon.com/Save-a-Drop-P...638429&sr=8-10 for a number of years. Home Depot use to carry them in the store, but I haven't seem them lately. From the looks of them, all the brands look the same (display/buttons), just different colors and prices.

I just bought one for fun. By that I mean I was curious to see how much water goes into my fresh tank before it overflows. My tank is 70 gallons. 65 went in. The other 5-6 was probably already in the water heater. I’ve always just filled it until water runs out of the overflow pipe. But, it could be useful if I decide to just out 15-20 gallons in for travel.

I use one of those on my black tank flush connection, so I know how much water is going in as I flush.

Obviously work well on fresh water tank too, but I just use my gauges. If Im not filling all the way up (to overflow), I just use gauges to tell me when Im 2/3 full and then I stop. Close enough.

Not trusting my gages and wanting as you say to have about 15-20 gal for travel is why I plan to get one.

I don’t trust my gauges for the critical tanks (black/grey) but freshwater is accurate enough to fill between 15-20 gals.

That said they are inexpensive amd handy to have around.

I was thinking it would help the water to not siphon out if I didn’t overfill it….? The dealer installed a tube loop to also help, but I was thinking that if I filled it a little less than full that would also help. We still lost some water with the tube loop put in but not as badly as without it (we lost almost ALL of our water from siphoning on our first boon docking trip - it was quite the bummer!). Thoughts?

Would a poop pyramid throw off the reading on the black water tank?
