    Antifreeze won't pump

Does it matter if you drain your water heater before or after trying to pump antifreeze into the lines?

I tried draining first, and no matter how I positioned the jug, it wouldn't suck it up.

I checked the strainer on the pump and it looks as if it were brand new. The pump seemed to be running smoothly, but what do I know?

This is only the second time I've tried to winterize-first time went without a hitch 2 years ago.

Any theories or suggestions are appreciated!

Water heater should be bypassed, so shouldn't matter. Try popping open one of the faucets or remove the inlet screen and flip it around.

I have to put my jug or bucket of antifreeze on a ladder to help it siphon. I also use a cup and pour some antifreeze into the hose before putting it into the jug. That works.

I open a faucet and have found I don't need to reverse the screen.
