Where to put a second spare tire on a 337?

I have a BAL spare tire mount and I'm wanting to install a second spare tire. I have two options, i can mount it close to the front behind the front battery compartment or behind the factory spare tire behind the axles under the RV. I can't really find any information on which location is best, or if it really matters.

In 4.5 years and 35,000 miles of full-timing, I've had to change a tire once - and that was due to a piece of rebar on the highway. Why do you need two spare tires? Are you still running the Westlake load range E tires?

If I knew anything about the 337, I'd try to help. Many times if a road hazard gets one, the other is at least damaged. Good luck in your project, but remember the box your thinking in only limited by your imagination. I created a spare mount for our class C by simply using a piece of C-channel and an ATV winch on a deep discount from Tractor Supply. A few more pieces and it worked like a charm.

Rob @Cate&Rob - installed a second spare on his 303 a few months ago. He installed a second cable lift system using the same type OEM cable lift system as for the existing spare. He moved the original lift and spare to the street side (or curb side - I do not recall for sure) further and installed the second lift and spare so they are side by side. Contact Rob and he will share the details I am sure.

It might be easier to get in touch with Rob on the other forum.

Regardless, I'm big-time in favor of a second spare tire.

I had a blowout 3 years ago. Pulled over, got it changed with the spare that I'd checked air in before we left for the trip. No big issues. So I patted myself on the back for being so proficient and proactive, and pulled back onto the interstate.

In less than 5 miles, the newly mounted spare blew out. Now that was a sinking feeling. Interstate, flat tire, no spare. Screwed.

Second spare is definitely on my list. And I'll mount it behind the axles to keep from adding pin-weight.

Excellent point. If you are on vacation and have a blow out you spend a day fixing a tire instead of enjoying the vacation. I'm not going to far without a spare tire. You can get a tire with a rim for 130 on amazon. The BAL tire mount is around 100. Cheap insurance in my option.
