    Good Bye

    My fellow GD ers
I have enjoyed this forum and have had many great comments regarding any questions I have had on a number of subjects in the last couple of years. Sadly, I will soon be leaving the forum as we are going to be selling our Imagine 2500RL as soon as it gets out of the hospital (again)
We have RV d for about 45 years, having owned at various times rigs by Coachman, Coleman,Trail Lite,Keystone,Fleetwood & Monaco diesel. As we all have, various issues have come up through ownership, and he had them fixed, and on we go.
Unfortunately our many issues with our Imagine in the last three years have made us come to the decision to sell it and move on. Since purchasing the coach new, we had no TV/Cable for the first year until the dealer ran a new coaxial from panel to TV area & replaced TV antenna. We had no heater until it was re wired, and then the unit made so much noise that it was replaced. A grey tank valve stuck closed with a tank full of water. These and other issues were eventually fixed and we were able to use the trailer like it was intended.
However, two recent problems have sealed the deal. After two different blow outs with China Bombs, we replaced all four tires. Very shortly after, we noticed that all four had terrible uneven wear. Trailer to a specialty shop who announced we had two bent axles. We never hit anything on the road or over big bumps. Upon closer inspection, the owner of the shop asked me if I had been hauling elephants around due to the condition of the axels. We have been doing this a long time and travel light. $2041.00 later, we were on our way after purchasing four more new tires. (10 tires purchased) Until last weekend. Upon leaving a RV park, our schwintek slide started making odd noises while retracting. It actually stopped about 3 inches from full close, but we were able to get home and to ANOTHER shop. Upon their inspection, a part actually fell off. Our current estimate from them is $3200.00 dollars, as we are replacing all teeth rails so this hopefully doesn't happen to whoever we well the rig to.
We have always maintained and cared for our rigs in order to enjoy them. But quite frankly, spending about $5300.00 dollars in a years period on a rig less that three years old has taken away any desire we have to pour any more money into this trailer. It has also made us resentful of GD.
So again, thank you fellow forumers and take care & God Speed & Safe Travels
    Out

Sorry to see you go. Your trailer must have had a starting build on a Friday and finished on a Monday. Happy trails in your future!

Sounds like most of the issues were components from other suppliers... slideout, tires, axles, heater... only the wiring is something I'd blame on GD.

It's all on GD really. Except perhaps the tires blowouts.
The manufacturer is responsible for the quality and robustness of their parts and components. Period.

    For forever?

They get their components from companies that supply the entire industry. I don’t understand how you think they can control “quality”
