I ended up connecting it to the positive power lead, but in that configuration it doesn't turn off.
We customarily on space limited installs this 10" Boss Audio powered sub. It has the switch I am referring to.

Looks like a good alternative. I might have gotten some resistance over the blue color.

So I went another way...replaced the cheap inside speakers with 8" marine speakers.
I also relocated the head unit to face the recliner couch so both me and the remote could see it, lol
Also replaced the outside tweeters with 6.5" marine speakers...

Those Infinity speakers look sweet. Can you share a picture of the relocated head unit?

Sure. Now I had to remove that silly door that hid the key holder, which I also relocated. And I added sunglass holders there also. There is still a hole where the head unit used to be, but I use it to store and charge a small blue tooth speaker we use for working out or fishing. I might cover that hole at some time...maybe.
Those infinity speakers sound sweat too. lol

@Soundsailor You sounds like me! Digital packrat. (You know you're never going to watch even a quarter of that stuff again!) You should look into a NAS drive. A Drobo or the like. I prefer the redundancy of multiple drives. I can have TWO drives (out of 5) fail and still recover. With 5x3TB drives I have 10 TB of space, obviously with some for overhead, redudnancy, etc.

Grandesigner, any tips (specs) on those sweet Infinities and the beveled or tapered spacers or mounts. DW really is after me to do something about those stock outside "tweeters".

    Thanks,

Yes, guilty as charged of being a packrat. The NAS would be nice (on my shore setup I have about 18 TB in two NAS enclosures in RAID configuration with additional bays open for more), but I wanted something that would work well off-grid. A USB drive takes very little power to run. It's a bit on the slow side, but the Raspberry Pi I'm using to power it isn't very powerful either (also runs on USB power). Together they have just enough to play HD at 720 resolution which looks fine on the TV in the coach. At 720 resolution the files are much smaller than on my home setup, making the 5 TB drive more than adequate (so far I'm only about half full).

@Soundsailor Nice work on the subwoofer install.

I just found out this weekend (after several years) that my head unit does not remember the last bass/treble settings. It resets every power down (despite it having constant power). The subwoofer would address the bass setting retention.
