Fire extinguishers are less expensive than therapy... but, if the paranoia is causing you problems, therapy might help in other parts of your life, too.

That or a Halon system! But, either way, living to enjoy your decision should be the goal.

Oooh! Halon! Now you've got me thinking... [emoji57] NOT! That would cost more than the coach cost!

Yea, and then get the therapy too! LOL!

But you still got to get out or away from the trailer for either to be effective.... I guess you could consider the therapy in this case "a loss leader".

There are several varieties of these on the market. Not sure of quality or reliability. My only concern with these self activating extinguishers are if they get a hole wore in them bouncing down the road and making a mess. These tubes may be able to be mounted better with the small clearance behind these appliances. Again I cannot vouch for them but have seen them on rv and boat sites before.

As a now retired 27 year firefighter all I can recommend is get out/call 911 and alert your neighbors.
Unless you catch a fire in an rv in the immediate beginning the chance of extinguishing is low at best. The chance of being injured is high.

I am always glad though to see people thinking ahead and looking at the risks of fire in rvs.

It's more of buying those extra few seconds to get the heck out, especially in the middle of the night.

I agree and if they work as advertised it could well do that.

Fair enough. I misunderstood. When you mentioned placing one in the basement I was getting the impression you were trying to be prepared to put anything out yourself.
Take a look at these Element extinguishers. I like the size and reported effectiveness. I have never had to use so I can't verify their capability.

It looks like the Element fire extinguishers are not "self-activating" so you still have to use them. I may be mistaken, but that is what I understood when viewing their FAQs. With the ball extinguishers, it is the heat of the fire that activates them.
