Once it shifts I can drop down to 60 without tranny downshifting unless going up hill. But as @WStemple, usually behind a semi doing 65.

But you will usually find me behind a slow moving Semi.
I figure the fast guys have to pass the semi anyway, so they don’t get mad at at me for being held up by the semi.

Drafting a semi helps with fuel mileage.

65-68 mph seems to my truck’s sweet spot.

Totally depends on conditions first and foremost. I tow my latest GD 2022 Reflection 297RSTS at around 65mph. At that speed I feel comfortable and average about 9.7mpg. If I go to 70mph, mileage drops pretty significantly.

I run 58 on the expressways. I'm a right lane guy.
On the secondary roads if the limit is 55, I run 53.
    Cruise control on whenever possible.

At or slightly below the posted speed limit. Always in the right-hand lane.

For me and our 2500RL behind a Chevy 2500, 62 works well...

Yesterday driving from Medford OR to Vista CA in 13.5 hours (782 miles), 65-70 most of the way. Once I get that itch to be home, step on it man

I just did the math, holy frick, I was moving

Let me tell you from experience, the next time you're drafting a Semi and he loses a re-tread will be the last time you draft a semi, scares the heck out of ya !

Oh, and my speed is dependent on road conditions. Perfect road on the interstate, typically 68 - 70 mph. Crappy 2 lane road, 55-60.

Been there - done that - it went right over the top but didn't hit her (It was my wife driving her car with me right behind her). Luckily after going over the car it veered sharply left and into the median. I stay well back of trucks, and if I have to pass I do it as quickly as possible. Otherwise I travel 65 on interstates, 2 lanes depends on conditions, never over 60 unless I forget to put the cruise control on . I do have a lead foot, but my wife and granddaughter are very good backseat drivers so reminders come fast and often...

Help me know how to get the fuel economy you achieve. I average 8000 to 12000 miles a year towing.
My 2020 SD with the 6.7 and 10 speed gets me 10.5-11.5 on a 180 mile trip. I run at 70 mph. I do have to slow down to go through half a dozen small towns. This truck gets 1 mpg better than my previous 2016 SD. I have done this trip numerous times. The 29rs isn't heavily loaded

On a trip to our CO vacation home I will drive 70-75 where the highways are four lane and little traffic. On a 660 mile trip like that driving at those speeds saves us around 1.5 hours of travel time..

As far as how old you are or retired status affects your speed: I just turned 60 and have been retired since '06..
