    Amazon ending AmazonSmile

Terrible marketing - I had never heard of AmazonSmile until I saw the links posted here on this forum. Just a really bad decision by Amazon IMHO.

So it's a bad marketing decision to get rid of something you'd never heard of? But then, I've never heard of it either.

Amazon Smile gave a small percentage of your purchase to the charity of your choice. It will be missed by those that used it.

However, it means Amazon is no longer my default for online purchases. Walmart ofter beats Amazon prices. Unfortunately, the Walmart website is clumsy.

It's been around for 10 years. First time I heard of it was @Second Chance posting links last year. They claim to have donated $449M to charities in those 10 years. A good portion went to small charities that haven't the funds to commercially solicit in the media.

Sad for sure. I've been using it for years and have donated allot of money with it to my local church. Time to look for other options in comparison......

Smile has been the default order link for us when using Amazon.

Here are some details. Amazon has donated almost 1 million dollars the Humane society.

Sadly, since the donations were spread across so many charities, each charity didn't get much. The not-for-profit healthcare organization that we designated (cares for underserved and medically indigent populations) averaged about $140 a year... and that was from everyone who had designated them.

I was under the impression that how much I spent personally on Amazon Smile, a percent of that went to the charity of my choice. I get updates quarterly I believe showing my statistics and what my charity received.

    Sad to see it go.
