Newly Installed Splendide washer/dryer -water won't drain down waste pipe!

    Solitude 310gk
    installed in front right closet

I tested with a garden hose at low pressure and it seemed to drain, but when I emptied
the washer, water went everywhere but down the pipe! The washer pump really pumps out the water
    at high pressure

Cleaned up the mess, and guess I'm going to have to pull it out of the closet
and then check whatever check valve they installed.

Was feeling empowered doing the install myself, and with help of a neighbor, wrestling it into place.
    (not an easy task).

    Any help/tips would be appreciated!

Many RV’s have a duckbill type of check valve in the drain line instead of a trap. The check valves have been known to get inverted so that things will only flow in the wrong direction, the one in my Momentum was like that. I put a water hose in the drain, wrapped it and held it tight with a rag and turned the water on for a moment. The water pressure pushed it so the flappers were pointed down the drain and it worked fine after that. When you look down the drain pipe it should similar to looking down a funnel with no hole at the bottom, if it looks like looking head on at a duck’s bill it may be inverted.

I've had this problem on both Momentums. The first one the duck bill was inverted, I stuck some fish tape down it to orient it correctly. I too learned when water went everywhere.

My current Momentum I was ready. Before I installed the drain pipe I took a picture of the inside of the pipe. There was black pipe cement all over the duck bill. I poured water down the pipe with a cup and it backed up. I was able to get all the black cement off with some leftover wire I had laying around and tried the cup again, no issues. Haven't had a chance to test our washer yet, so hopefully all is well the first time.

Thanks for the input. I peered down and it does indeed look like it may be inverted.
Poor design, as one would think you could create a valve where the hose could seat into the fitting.

I am loathe to try the garden hose method, as its a very tight access (inches with washer installed)

any way to feed a snake down the inlet and try to flip the membrane without moving the washer
and taking the valve out and manually fixing?

(we are camping on thursday...so I have 1 day lol)

I fixed mine on the 399 with a snake, just be careful, you don't want to tear the membrane. Remove the washer drain tube and you'll have plenty of access. You can use your phone to get a picture inside the pipe if you can't get a good visual.

thanks. That was exactly what I was planning, but was worried about tearing the membrane as GD prominently
displays a white sticker that clearly says to NOT use a mechanical drain cleaner.

Ill give it a go tomorrow.

I ended up pulling the unit out of the closet, unscrewed the valve and reverted the bladder. Sure enough it was inverted.
    problem solved!

    Thanks to all.

    Update.

Washer drains fine, but now sewer gas is venting up the waste pipe. It is possible I tore the membrane, but I was pretty gentle un-inverting it.

Any solutions save capping it when not in use?

Or complete replacement of the valve?

Currently camping and wife is complaining

Close the drain valve on the washer tank, so it is not open to the sewer?

Just open it, after you use the washer, then close it, again.

The handle for mine is located in the Nautilus, not under the unit.

Check to be sure you didn’t push the washer drain hose down the drain far enough for it to hit the flapper valve. It could hold the valve open if it did and would cause the problem you describe.
