    Wood under bed

The wood under the bed does not go the entire length or width of the mattress. Shorted by a good foot in length and 6" width. Concerned about it causing damage to the mattress. Anyone else have shorted wood under there? Just wondering if this is normal to GD. Our old trailer had wood support under the whole mattress.
It would probably be cheaper to just replace that piece ourselves than to drive it to and back from the dealer for them to fix.

Marcy ours is exactly the same way. I wondered about it myself but I figured there was actually very little pressure in those areas on the sides and the bottom so I hope it will be OK. I wondered if it was setback a little so as not to rub the sides of the slide out and the dresser when traveling?

Keep in mind also that if the wood went to the complete end, you will more than likely start marking up your legs/shins. We had a bedroom slide problem and had to keep the slide closed the last couple days of a trip and we had to crawl over the bed to get to the closet. Needless to say, I did some damage to my shins over those couple of days to the point that I started to check the position of the mattress before I started crawling..

The problem I have have is that when sleeping near the edge of the bed I have a feeling that I am rolling off. Also in the mornings when sitting on the edge to get dressed I can feel the bed giving a little bit. I can't help but wonder what kind of effect that will have on the mattress and or wood after some time. I am not a large man only about 170. Gary

    Hi Marcy and Gary (@WhittleBurner),

This is normal and intentional, and will not cause damage to the mattress. The platform is cut back to avoid "shin contact" when walking around the bed.

    Best regards,
