    Tire Question

OK I just ordered a Solitude 310gk. Can't wait to get it. My question is what would you do with the Westlake ST235 80R16 on it? The one I am trading in has Michelin LT235 85R16. They have about 7,000 miles on them. Options are

    1. Hope for the best with the Westlakes
    2. Take the Westlakes off and put on Sailun 637s
    3. Swap out the Westlakes with my trade in Michelins

Although many like them, I'm not a big fan of LT tires on trailers - the sidewalls are constructed differently than ST tires. The LT tires are likely load range E, anyway. We replaced out Westlakes with Sailun load range G tires.

Are the Westlake tires on your new Solitude "E" or "G" rated? If the latter, I'd give them a shot. If the former, I'd replace them with either Goodyear G614 or Sailun S637. We just ordered a Solitude that will come with "G" rated Westlake tires and I'm going to run them for a while. I haven't heard of any failures of those tires. Our Reflection came with "E" rated Westlakes and we replaced them with the G614's when it was new.

They are E rated. From everything I read Westlakes makes me nervous. Looks like I will be changing them to Sailun

Last November, we got our 2018 Solitude 310 GK-R and the Westlakes are G rated. Didn't special order them.

I believe Grand Design switched to G rated Westlakes on the Solitudes sometime in 2017. Our Feb 2018 build 310GK had G rated Westlakes from the factory.
