The main limiting factor limiting the GVWR is the Axle's, springs, brakes, and spring hangers.... and Tires, wheels.. Change those and you can carry more weight.

Nothing to do with increasing capacity Its an option 1/2" up to 9/16" Studs and a larger outer bearing "More Beef" and you can run oil instead of grease. This is what they use on the 8,000 Lb Axle . Just bought From Stop Your Trailer.

Fair question, unless one is planning to add additional weight over the posted capacity it does not make a lot of sense. We are planning to have the disc brake and suspension upgrade through Performance Braking. I first received a quote in September but they are unable to do the install until at least April since we are in the Pacific NW, so we will wait.

I will see ... plenty of truck and exhaust brake will be big help ... going to select option for heavy brakes on RAM ... do not have new S Class yet but it will weight in estimated 2500 lbs more than previous 5ver so a little bit of wait and see ... later Frank

The 310 is a bit unique in that the factory axles will carry almost all of the GVWR. It has the same 7k lb. axle setup that the larger , heavier Solitudes have. The weight limitation is probably more due to the two inch smaller main frame beams. Loaded for a two- three week trip we’re still under 14k , with a dishwasher and a combo W/D unit.

We add about 1600-1800 lbs when loaded including 50 gallons fresh water ... that's only around half of our CCC so I do not see disc in the future but final decision will be how the Ram and camper do stopping us... and I will be at the cat scale first trip loaded to see actual weights ... later Frank

    8k axles w/ disc brakes & H rated Cooper Tires = MSRP $5758

    7x axles w/ disc brakes & G rated Westlake Tires = MSRP $3330

First run should be in March.

So my question becomes if I order a NEW unit and add the 8K option above, will there be a higher GVWR sticker on the door as compared to a unit with the standard 7K?

And does the same frame get used either way, or are the new 2020 frames reinforced to support the 8k axles and springs vs the 2019 frames of the same floor plans.

Because of all the issues with 7k springs. I had to replace all 6 springs on a 1 1/2 year old rig because they were bad. the brakes were also shot so lippert sent me all new brake assemblies and drums. Added a leaf so they r now essentially 8k. If this was available when I purchased my trailer I would have definitely purchased it.
