Was at the trailer repair place today, and they found that the right rear wet bolt was also broken. It was still in, no idea why it had not worked its way out. The original was the left rear. They are currently, at my request replacing all the wet bolts with the nylon bushing and solid bolts. Should get it back tomorrow.

You can see the bolt snapped in half cleanly at the grease hole.

@ajg617 - John, finally getting caught up on your thread. My oh my......reading all this sounds much worse than in our conversation of a few days ago....and that was bad enough. I hope you/GDRV/others get to the bottom of this to determine why this happened.

Sure hope you and Robin will be able to salvage the rest of your trip w/o any issues. You guys deserve some relaxation and enjoyment after this disaster. And yes, thank goodness you are on top of things to possibly have prevented a much worse scenario.

I'll call after Labor Day to get caught up.

Springs replaced this morning by Diamond S trailer repairs. GD sent the wrong size U-bolts (too small) but the shop was able to source the correct U-bolts locally. New springs, U-bolts, Shackles, Wet bolts. Pulled 258 miles to next destination so back on the road. Highly recommend Diamond S if you need repairs in the Glacier area. They are in Columbia Falls.

Glad to hear things went well and that you are back on the road. Hope this never happens again.

We have close to 20k now, broke the first one last August at about 11k and the second one about 18k.

Fantastic that your trailer is repaired and on the road. I pulled mine home for the weekend while the repair place is waiting on parts, and looking at the shackle bracket where the spring detached, they are going to have to replace the bracket. Like you, the bracket bolt hole is elongated, and there is no way to really straighten them out properly.

Made it to West Yellowstone and nothing fell off But bent the aluminum end of a gray tank cable - another project for the winter. On the flip side, fixed my water heater - disconnected wire so it now works on gas too!!! And yes, Aug 27th snow in Dunnraven Pass!
