12v in garage while traveling - No Inverter

I have a 2022 Grand Design Momentum 397TH and have a traveling question.

I have a travel car freezer able to run off 110v ac or 12v dc. I use this in the garage for a drink cooler and a overflow for freezer goods.

I am looking for a hookup I can use in the garage that will be live while traveling. Are there any 12v connections in the garage that are live while traveling?

Without an inverter I don't think any of the AC outlets will be live.

Your help is appreciated.

Michael

Hey Michael, it looks like this is your first post, welcome aboard. Do you know how much your freezer draws (Amps)? You might be able to tap into any of the 12-volt circuits and install a cigarette lighter-type plug. That would only work for smaller power uses. If your freezer draws a lot, then I would recommend finding an unused port on your 12-volt panel and wiring up a separate circuit. Grand Design unfortunately has been moving away from offering dedicated 12-volt ports.

A possible solution might be the 12VDC power feed to your Toy Hauler fuel pumping station. Since that obviously would not be in use while travelling, you might be able to tap into that circuit, ahead of the load side of the switch, and provide power for your drink cooler. If you go that route, make sure and put a fuse in the branch circuit and also make sure that the circuit itself can provide enough power for the drink cooler. The tire fueling station would likely be the largest gauge wire and circuit back in the garage area....versus an awning or HappiJack bed system.

The obvious best way to do it is to run a separate circuit from your 12 fuse panel (from a spare/open slot), but that obviously involves a LOT more work to accomplish the end result...
