Hi everyone!

We're wanting to mount a fairly heavy TV (20lbs aprox) in the wall between the upper and lower bunks in our 2018 GD Imagine 3170BH (photo). It was mounted in a wall previously, but we're concerned whether it'll work in this model of RV and in that location. Has anyone else mounted in this spot, know what's behind there, or have any general advice about making holes in these walls? This is our first trailer :)

Thanks!

The walls in the RV are a thin Luan over foam core with an aluminum frame. Unless you can find the aluminum studs to screw into, the wall will not handle any kind of TV mount, no matter the size. When RV manufacturers plan for a TV mount, they put a metal or 1/2" plywood backing plate in the wall.

You are most welcome!

Obviously, this is not a long thread, but here are a few forum posting tips as you post more and/or get on some longer threads:

1) If you use "Reply With Quote" (to the right of "Reply") as I have here, folks will know to whom you are responding and that person will get a notification.

2) You can also tag folks using the "@" symbol and their user name (as I have done yours) - they'll also get a notification that way.

3) You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

Forum Actions (on menu bar) -> Edit Profile -> Edit Signature (under My Settings on the left)

Note: you'll need to have a paid subscription to add an image to your signature.
