I want to upgrade the batteries in the camper to Lifepo4 batteries. Is this just as simple as swapping out current with new? Will the factory converter/charger charge the new batteries? I am also in the process of adding solar with Renogy 40A mppt charge controller. My question is for when it is cloudy and I have to run my Honda 2000-watt generator to charge batteries. Thanks in advance for the advice.

To be honest with you, I did. I upgraded to two group 27 batteries. Because my trailer batteries were junk. I always had to be plunged into my vehicle for 12 volts. I assume my dealer swapped out my good ones and gave me garbage ones. Because it was left with the dealer for two weeks because of our banks not communicating. Kind of hard to prove and question when you are 4000 miles away.
As for your second question my factory converter /charger keeps them charged .

The factory stock one will charge the LifePo4 batteries good enough, but will never full charge them. If your ok with a slow charge, the batteries probably will be charged as good as 90%.

If you do elect to buy a new converter, I would seriously think of something larger [100-125A], swap out the circuit breaker to 20A [the wiring at the electrical box is rated to 20A], and make certain the converter is rated for Lithium batteries. If you do that, you will be fine.

You can do this the following year if you want to spread out the cost. You can always use the converter for your automotive needs. It does extremely well for keeping your car batteries charged.
