Hello, I have been looking at this 5th wheel guys and gals and I was wondering to those who have this 5th wheel or to those who have had one what do you think about it. This dealer has a leftover brand new 2023 and is asking a really cheap price, they want to move it of course but how are they. The one thing that I don't to particular don't like is that it have a prop/electric fridge, since I have had a 12V fridge I am spoiled, will it work, give me your views and thank you.

Many people prefer having the propane option, especially if they boondock. I've had three campers with that option, now adjusting to 12 volt. On propane it always kept my ice cream rock solid. -- passed my tests!

I personally wouldn't go back to a propane/electric fridge. They're a huge energy consumer and run the risk of a fire on the propane side.

Have the dealer install a residential or convert to a DC fridge.

Just my two cents.

Huge energy consumer? They barely sip the propane, not much more than a pilot light, and none of that when on shore power. A 12 volt can use a lot of solar power. It just depends on your camping style.

Not the Norcold 218. We went through 30 gal of propane every 8 days boondocking. And on electric, we pulled 54 amps of AC when on solar. This was on a 2015 model. Hmmm, maybe I cycled too much beer through it, LOL.

On edit. It used 7 gals, 30 lbs.

That is a lot of A/C when on solar! I've not boondocked long enough to have long term experience on propane but that much usage goes against the reports that I've heard but there can be many variables. My experience, albeit short term, shows very conservative consumption of propane.

We have the Propane/Electric fridge an we prefer it. We boondock a lot and haven't noticed any excessive Propane usage (now if you are talking about the Furnace, THAT'S a whole different story).

I know the most common complaint is that the Propane fridges don't keep the Ice Cream hard enough for some people, personally, I like soft Ice Cream so that is not an issue.

We recently bought a Digital refrigerator monitor that will monitor both the Fridge and Freezer. Our Freezer is usually in the single digits and our fridge is around 35 degrees, exactly where we want the temps to be.

Thank you sir, I know that on one of our RV was prop/electric I had to installed about 4 computer fans in the back of it, two below to push the hot air up and two up top to push it out, that did a little better but it still was a problem.

The dealer is having a big blow out clearance sale on a couple ones, we have in our North Point 12V and we love how cold it get, it keep our ice cream very hard. Thank you for your input.

We have a late 2023 Solitude 376RD with the 12v refrigerator, we would never go back to a propane/electric again. I will say the floor plan is AMAZING! We are selling ours because it doesn't fit our family of four very well and would like to go to a class A DP bunk. We are also selling the truck. If you would like more info please message me. Here is a link to our add if your interested. https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2023-GRAND+DESIGN-SOLITUDE+376RD++376RD-R-5033758046

Ahhh man, that is one nice 5th wheel and I would love to buy something like that, but we would have to sale our first to get out of ours. I have the same truck as you do so that match up very well together. Thank you for your comment and yes I would agree about the 12V fridge, we have one now and we had the prop/electric and it's just like night and day, but yeah, the IS will be a game changer.

I would highly recommend the 8k morryde independent suspension with disc brakes. After owning a previous rvs without and this one with, it would be a deal braker for me!

I run my 2118 on AC when towing it. It can draw up tp 60 amps from the batteries. But my solar can keep up. I like to use AC under tow, as I can monitor on the Victron amp if the fridge is running.
I have not noticed much difference in propane use from my past propane fridges.

When I did have a prop/electric fridge I had a total of four pc fans trying to push the hot air up and two to push it out, sometimes in hot weather it was a job just to keep the fridge cold enough to keep the food at the right temperature.

The 0nly issue I had was the stock 3.00 fans failed early on. After replacing them with 20.00 fans that are water resistant and rated for 50,000 hours, it has been a rock solid performer. DW loves it. She thinks it is the best fridge we have ever had....Even better than our home fridge. We used to have lettuce go bad early on our 2-3 week outings. Now it stays good for the entire trip.

The 12V fridge that we have in our North Point after having it for almost a year now it's hard for me to give that up now.

Don't know your location, but if a good deal and you like it, go for it, then have JC Refrigeration in Elkhart convert the frig to a dual compressor 12V. Best thing I did on our 2021 380FL.
