I had a large Schwintek kitchen slide on my last trailer. Residential fridge, stove, pantry and fireplace/TV. I said a little prayer each time it moved and never made direct eye contact with it. Had the internet fear in me. It never failed. I did keep it lubed, only ran it when level, only ran it on shore power, and always held the switch. While it never failed I did have one costly repair due to rivets that hold the gibs in place that popped. I found that on inspection so avoided failure.
I have a had an electric through frame slide fail. Motor drive shaft issues. That was fun to deal with on a solo trip. Got it out and back in myself, but took some figuring.
Any slide type can fail, but I don’t think I’d abandon the idea of a floor plan I like due to the slide out. Especially not on a medium sized travel trailer where it’s not a massive slide.
The benefit of these slides is they allow for tank space and other things under the rv floor since there’s no rack and pinion system to interfere.
