This is my third RV, but my first 5th Wheel and my first Grand Design. On my other travel trailers there was a switch to energize the tank heaters for the potable water, grey, and black tanks. I see no switches for the tank heaters on my 320G. Does it have tank heaters, or does it rely on the heated underbelly to keep the tanks from freezing?

Thanks,

Joe

Unless they have changed, they do not have tank heaters, my 2021 does not.

I have a '24 415G and it too does not have the switch but the belly is fully heated.
But what i did notice at the Hershey show was for the 2025 model on display did have the heater switch! I didn't have heaters on my last 2 trailers & never needed them so I didn't look much further into it. Also I heard the heaters (if equipped) are placed around the valves to keep them from freezing. I have not confirmed that though.

This is a pic of the switch that was added. It almost looks like it was a dealer install so factory might not think it's necessary to even have but I like the idea of heating the valves.

The newest of the new have the red switched tank heaters.

I do not know the time line of when they added them, but the new ones do have them.

Is there a switch or are they thermostatically controlled only?

Yes. LOL

There is the red switch as pictured above. When that switch is on, they are preset thermostatically controlled.

When that switch is not on, there is nothing but the forced air heat.

If the dump valves are outside of the heated underbelly then yes, they should have heaters. I have a LGM teardrop trailer that has the dump valves exposed so I added a 12 volt three foot long self regulating heat tape to each one then a control panel for them inside the camper. I also added 12 volt tank heaters. After installing and testing the heat tape to make sure they're working, I wrapped the valves and related piping with insulation.
