New rig, just got it home and retractable shower door just fell apart. Total crap. Thanks for letting me vent.

It is a retractable curtain that is suppose to squeegee the water off when it closes. It is on various models. I've seen numerous post that folks said they just put up a rod and curtain. It's just a bummer that it seems so flimsy on such a nice coach.

Well, out of several thousand GD models on the road (as well as other brands) there really aren't a lot of failures.

Feeling lucky??? LOL

We have that door on our 3100RD. We love it. We use our rig a lot, and the door works as intended. I’d be curious to know what “fell apart.”

When GD first started using those they had a couple new models at the rally. About 10 of us were asked to critiqe the new floor plans. The trailer we were assigned had those, it broke almost as soon as i touched it. Had it about half opened, it slipped out of my hand and as it violently rolled back up the whole thing fell apart. I'm suprused over the years that it's been in use there haven't been more complaints.

There are always some......but the percentage of failure rates compared to the sheer number of them out there is minimal.

Winnebago has been using a similar product in their touring vans for years before Imagine had them.

That is exactly what happened to us.

My 2023 grand design transcend explor 235bh shower retractable broke after 2 showers on top of 10 other items that I had to fix. I got the lemon. [Covid RV].

Pretty sure you just got an RV...

They all have issues. I don't care how much you spend or what name is one it, they all have problems.

Some are better than others, some never have any issues, but they are all the same.

I don't buy the "Covid build" theory at all. Yes, there were some parts issues, and some manufacturers had shut downs, etc, but Grand Design has remained the same. I've been through it on the industry side.

My "Covid Build" 2022 has been solid. I've had to replace one drawer slider, cut down and re-glue some trim pieces, and fix a leaking bathroom sink drain. Bigger issue was the brakes not working well when new, but that was sorted after a bit also. Bummer about your shower slider. No issues with ours so far.

We have that same shower door on our 2017 2600RB. The top rail pops off the end closest to the bathroom door periodically. It's a weird set up. We manage to pop it back on; it's not the best design, but when it works, it works. I try to be very careful and gentle with it, as it's a PIA to pop back in the holder. I've thought about just doing a rod and curtain, but haven't resorted to that yet.

‘21 2600RB and we went with the shower curtain idea. Guy doing our PDI walk thru suggested it.
Just used the existing shower rail.

Can you replace it with the 3 panel glass door in the Reflection?

We have concerns about durability of the retractable shower door. The shower itself appears to be the same size as the one in the Reflection 297RSTS. Can you purchase the 3 panel glass door and install it on the Imagine?

When we bought our ‘22 3100RD, we too questioned the roll up door. The dealer said we could order the three panel, but it was costly. We’ve lived with the roll up for over two years and 20k plus miles and like it a lot! Plus I’ve read posts here about the tri-panel doors jumping the track or breaking.

We replaced our 2016 GD2600rb shower door with a curtain. We got frustrated trying to clean the bottom of the sliding door. It also looked horrible. It took a bit to remove and clean the caulk but it looked MUCH better to us and we had no regrets. OH, the sliding door worked great but the top rail did pop out from time to time. We replaced so cleaning and appearance were improved.

That's what we have in our 22MLE. I was a little skeptical at first, but it's worked well and as intended. I guess Airstream uses them, so I'm told.
